A summer wedding at The Grand Hotel is always something special, and Melanie and Keith’s day was the perfect joyful celebration. Set in the heart of Carleton Place, this historic hotel provided a beautiful backdrop for a wedding day filled with meaningful moments, laughter, and beautiful connections with the people they love most.
Getting Ready at The Grand Hotel
The morning began inside the hotel with a calm and relaxed energy that set the tone for the day. Melanie got ready in the gorgeous bridal suite, a bright and thoughtfully designed space that feels both luxurious and comfortable. Sunlight poured through the windows as she shared the morning with some of her closest friends and family. There was laughter, quiet anticipation, and those slow moments that make wedding mornings feel so special.
Meanwhile, Keith and his group were getting ready in the owner’s suite. Surrounded by his favourite people, the room was filled with easy conversation and excitement as final touches were made. Having separate yet equally beautiful spaces for getting ready allowed both sides of the day to unfold with ease.
A First Look Filled With Emotion
One of the most meaningful moments of the day took place right in the bridal suite, where Melanie and Keith shared their first look. The private setting made it feel incredibly personal, giving them space to fully take in the moment without distractions. These quiet exchanges often become some of the most cherished memories of the day, and this one was filled with genuine emotion and connection.
Pre-Ceremony Portraits
After the first look, we moved into the courtyard for wedding party portraits. Everyone was in great spirits, and the excitement of the day really started to build here. From there, we ventured off to the nearby rail trail for nature filled nearlywed portraits. The rail trail is such a wonderful close option for couples who love the outdoors and want something a little more natural woven into their wedding gallery. Before prepping for the ceremony, we made sure to take advantage of one of the most recognizable features inside the hotel, the iconic staircase.
An Indoor Ceremony and Family Portraits
The ceremony took place indoors, offering a beautiful and comfortable setting for guests. The space felt warm and intimate, allowing everyone to focus on the meaningful vows being shared. Indoor ceremonies at The Grand Hotel are a great option for couples who want a reliable and elegant setting regardless of the weather. Following the ceremony, family portraits were also done indoors while guests enjoyed cocktail hour.
A Reception Full of Laughter
The reception was filled with heartfelt speeches and plenty of laugh inducing moments. You could truly feel how loved this couple is by the people around them. One of the highlights of the evening was their first dance, which featured live music. Having live music for such a meaningful moment added an extra layer of emotion and created an unforgettable experience for both the couple and their guests.
Sunset Portraits on the Rooftop
As the sun began to set, we snuck up to the rooftop for a few minutes of sunset portraits. It is always worth heading up there. The rooftop offers a unique perspective and a quiet escape from the reception, even if only for a short time. The soft summer light paired with the historic surroundings made these portraits feel especially magical.
Ending the Night on the Dance Floor
The night ended exactly how a great wedding should, with high energy on the dance floor. Guests celebrated late into the evening, filling the space with movement, laughter, and pure joy. It was the perfect ending to a day that balanced elegance with fun and heartfelt connection.
Melanie and Keith’s summer wedding at The Grand Hotel in Carleton Place was a beautiful reflection of what matters most. Meaningful moments, genuine connection, and a celebration that felt effortless from start to finish.
