Pack with me using only a carry on and a personal bags for a week in the Dominican Republic. I am absolutely terrified of checking my bag and it not arriving to the destination with me so I always challenge myself to use only a carry on and personal bag. My personal bag is my camera bag, it is filled with all my camera gear and any electronics. This makes it easy if I have to take them out my bag since they are all in the same one. My clothes, toiletries, shoes, etc. all go into my little carry on suitcase! Since I was travelling with my boyfriend, his clothes took up one side of our carry on so we brought a second personal bag that counted towards what he was allowed to bring as well.
Below is my exact packing list:
- 5 dresses
- maxi skirt
- White linen button up
- Neutral shorts for under dress
- Long sleeve crop top
- Jean shorts
- Pj shorts
- Grey T-shirt
- Crochet crop
- 2 x bathing suit (a one piece and a bikini)

I like to use packing cubes to help keep things organized. I find it helps me fit everything more easily as well. It also makes it super easy for me to pull out the ziplock bag full of my liquids when going through security without worrying of anything falling out since it’s all sectioned off into cubes.

My camera gear is always in my personal bag, this way if the plane is full and my carry on does have to be checked. I know for a fact my camera is staying with me and will not get lost. I keep all my electronics in here as well so that I can watch movies or work while in the airport and on the plane.
Our Second Personal Bag:
- Flip flops for each of us
- Oatmeal Bite Snacks
- Curling Iron
- Toilettries that didn’t fit in our carry on
- Phone Tripod
I tried my best to use just one carry on and a personal bag but because my boyfriend and I shared the carry on, we ended up needing one more personal bag for a few extra things. I think we did really good through to get away with one carry on and two personal bags between the two of us!
What I wear on the plane:
- Black spandex shorts
- Black cropped tank top
- Sweatsuit
- Socks
- Chunky flip flops
I love to be comfy on the airplane so I always wear some sort of lounge set. Since it’s cold here I get to leave in warm clothes but by wearing shorts and a crop top underneath, when I arrive in the heat I can easily just take off my lounge set.
