There is something incredibly meaningful about photographing couples through multiple seasons of their lives. I had the honour of capturing Kaitlyn and Olivers wedding day, so being invited back to document this new chapter felt like a full-circle moment.
We met on a warm summer evening at the Dominion Arboretum for their maternity session. The light was soft and golden, and the grounds felt calm and quiet. One of the open fields was filled with dandelions that had turned into fluffy white seed heads, adding such a dreamy and fleeting backdrop to their session. It felt symbolic in the best way, marking a season that will pass quickly and beautifully.
We spent most of our time simply wandering through the arboretum paths. Kaitlyn and Oliver carried a small basket of flowers, which added a gentle, romantic touch without feeling overdone. The session never felt rushed. It was slow, relaxed, and focused on connection.
We eventually laid out a picnic-style blanket in the grass and let them settle in together for a while. Those quiet moments are always my favourite. Kaitlyn resting against Oliver, his hand finding hers, both of them soaking in the anticipation of what is to come.
These images are more than just photos. They are a piece of Kaitlyn and Oliver’s family’s story.
