Shika and Zach held their beautiful wedding at his parents residence in Ottawa. With their wedding happening during the COVID pandemic they had to make many changes to their original plans. At one point their wedding was going to be just themselves and their parents. Fortunately, the week of their wedding there was an exciting announcement to increase the size of gatherings. They were able to invite up to 50 people at the last minute!

The Ceremony

Their ceremony decor was absolutely stunning. They had an arch with white satin material draped along it for her to enter through to come down the aisle with her dad. At the end of the aisle, where Zach awaited her, there was an elegant altar made of wood with greenery and white florals all across the top. The aisle was lined with lanterns and florals sitting on top of rustic slices of wood. These beautiful pieces were all made by Shika and Zach. The ceremony was wonderfully done and Zach’s Mom and Sister sung a beautiful song for them.

Husband & Wife Portrait

After the ceremony, we took Husband and Wife portraits at the Watson Mill in Manotick. The mill has alot to offer with the grey stone building, the concrete bridge, a small grassy area with a beautiful willow tree, and access to the water. Shika & Zach looked absolutely stunning and Shika’s veil was so dreamy as it flowed through the wind.

The Reception

Once we returned to the residence, their reception began. Dinner was served in Buffet style. Each table was called up individually and dinner was served by their lovely family and friends who were geared up in their PPE gear. Once everyone had returned to their seats, speeches began. Shika’s parents started them off with a beautiful speech that had everyone laughing, smiling, and shedding tears of joy. Zach’s parents followed with a very unique speech. They incorporated a scavenger hunt for Shika and Zach to follow during their speech which led them to very useful and hilarious gifts.

Following their parents speeches, their first dance began. They danced in the middle of their outdoor reception under twinkling lights surrounded by their family and friends.

After their first dance, the guys all ran inside and changed into some different outfits. Shika was told to sit in a chair set up beside the back porch and wait for the surprise. As a backstreet boys song began to play, the guys came running outside and began a choreographed dance for her. As Zach grabbed Shika to come join them, “Dancing Queen” by Abba began to play which finished off their surprise dance.

Shika and Zach definitely put together a dreamy backyard wedding that was filled with a ton of laughter, smiles, and tears of joy.
