After much thought and consideration, Shannon and Chad decided to un-postpone their wedding date and plan a petite backyard wedding. With the uncertainty of how long covid will have an impact they just didn’t want to wait any longer. They were excited to get married! So, they decided to put together the perfect micro wedding in his parents backyard!

These two originally had met playing beach volleyball against each other at the Ottawa Tennis & Lawn Bowling Club but didn’t really start chatting until a few weeks later! They began dating in 2015 and four years later he finally asked her to marry him!

Their original plans were to get married where they met with a large group of family and friends. It was so important for them to spend as much time with everyone as possible on their wedding day. Of course, because of covid, a large wedding just wasn’t possible. So they decided that they were just really excited to get married and that they could celebrate with all their family and friends at a later date when things settled down. They put together the most beautiful backyard petite wedding and were still able to have all their immediate family present.

I found out afterwards that before they chose a venue for the larger wedding they had considered having their wedding in his parents backyard. They decided that backyard weddings involve a lot of logistics with the number of people they had in mind to invite. So, they opted for a venue. It’s funny how things work out, with covid happening, only 25 people were allowed to attend an outdoor wedding. As a result, they now could put together the backyard wedding they had in mind without the headache of coordinating over 100 people.

Their day was absolutely perfect and a lot of happy tears were shed, even though Shannon swears she’s not an emotional person! The laughter during their reception was contagious. For instance, tons of funny stories were told through speeches, Chad’s dance for Shannon, and Shannon singing along to the music to Chad are just a few key moments that had everyone smiling.

Chad’s parents backyard ended up being a stunning place to host their petite backyard wedding!
