Some engagement sessions feel less like a photoshoot and more like being welcomed into a couple’s everyday life. Jenny and Miguel’s summer engagement was exactly that. Relaxed, personal, and filled with quiet moments that reflected who they are and the life they have built together.
Their session took place at their private waterfront property, a space that instantly felt calm and grounding. Surrounded by nature and away from the distractions of busy locations, it was the perfect setting for an engagement session that felt unhurried and authentic.
A Field That Felt Straight Out of a Dream & The Cutest Guests
On the way into their property is the most beautiful open field. Long, wispy grass catching the warm evening light and right in the middle stood a large, striking tree. This spot quickly became one of my favourites from the session.
One of the sweetest parts of this engagement session was that it included two very important members of Jenny and Miguel’s family. Their cats followed us out into the field, clearly curious about what we were up to.
At one point, they climbed right up into the tree, peeking down from above while we photographed nearby. It was unexpected, playful, and completely perfect. These little moments are exactly why photographing couples at home or on private property is so special. Real life gets to unfold naturally, and those memories become part of the story.
Sunset Along the Water
As the evening continued, we made our way down to the dock along the waterfront. The light softened as the sun began to set, creating that warm, golden glow that summer evenings are known for.
Jenny and Miguel danced together on the dock, followed by sitting side by side, feet in the water, quietly taking in the view. It felt intimate and grounding, a snapshot of a moment they will return to again and again in their everyday life.
These are the moments I look for during engagement sessions. The pauses. The laughter. The calm connection that shows who a couple truly is together.
A Session That Reflected Their Life Together
From the open field to the dock at sunset, every part of this engagement session felt true to who Jenny and Miguel are. Calm, connected, and grounded in nature. It was such an honour to document this season of their lives in a place that holds so much meaning for them.
If you are dreaming of engagement photos that feel natural and personal, choosing a location that already feels like home can make all the difference. Whether that is your own property, a family cottage, or a place you spend your weekends together, those familiar spaces often create the most meaningful images.
